Hi all,
I am questioning if everyone has Dissociative identity disorder and can share some stories with me, my psychiatrist thought I had Bpd (borderline personality disorder) but yesterday I was formally diagnosed by a specialist with Dissociative identity disorder
I was wondering how your relationships are with loved ones, as I am married.
And how do you cope? Do you take medication to quit the dissociative outbreaks? How do you cope with the other personalities? Is their anything I should know about this illness that you could share with me? If you have a story please share it with me if you like .??
i have searched on google but every thing seems so complicated and i would like to hear some real life stories that possibly you could share with me, i am still in shock that i have this and want to get trough it i was originally diagnosed with Bpd and got a appointment with the specialist and he was the one that diagnosed me with Dissociative identity disorder

I have DID. You can feel totally free to e-mail me. Numerous multiples are misdiagnosed as BPD first. Its fairly frequent. Honestly, I think numerous is greater, there's so a lot negativity surrounding BPD. I am not married, so can't assist you there. I took medication for about five years but have decided to go without for many factors, and am doing significantly greater without the drugs. You need to know that there is no medication to treat dissociation in any form. The drugs they prescribe help with the other symptoms (anxiety, depression). Medications are not a initial line treatment for DID, and will not give a cure. You want intensive therapy with a therapist experienced in DID. Coping with the other parts- i'm not sure I'd put it very like that. as I've gotten to know them, many I'm very fond of. Other people I wish would dissapear, but it doesn't work fairly that way. We're sorta like a huge internal family- its not so much coping as learning to live together. Does that aid some?
Some superb websites for DID support-
Both of these offer therapist refferals to trauma specialists (for Sidran's look under help desk)
